|Display name:||Microsoft ACPI Driver|
|Group:||Boot Bus Extender|
Microsoft ACPI Driver is a kernel device driver. In Windows XP it is starting before Kernel initialization. If the Microsoft ACPI Driver fails to start, the technical information about the error is added to the Event Log. Windows XP startup should proceed, but a message box should be displayed informing the user that the ACPI service has failed to start.
Restore Default Startup Configuration for Microsoft ACPI Driver
1. Select your Windows XP edition and service pack, and then click Download.
2. Save the WinXP_ACPI_Service_Startup.cmd file to a local storage device.
3. Run the saved file.

The ACPI service is using the ACPI.sys file that is located in the %WinDir%\system32\DRIVERS folder. If the file is changed, damaged or deleted, you can restore its original version from Windows XP installation media.
