Default Behavior

Vga is a kernel device driver. In Windows 7 it won't be started if the user doesn't start it. If Vga fails to load or initialize, Windows 7 startup continues without error messages. The failure details are being written into Event Log.

Restore Default Startup Configuration for Vga

1. Run the Command Prompt as an administrator.

2. Copy the command below, paste it into the command window and press ENTER:

sc config vga start= demand

3. Close the command window and restart the computer.

The vga service is using the vgapnp.sys file that is located in the %WinDir%\system32\DRIVERS folder. If the file is changed, damaged or deleted, you can restore its original version from Windows 7 installation media.
